Make a Möbius Strip

Provide a gateway to topology by making a Möbius strip with your students.

For this activity, you need paper strips, scissors, glue or tape, and a marker.

After students make the Möbius strip, they can explore how many sides their strip has by drawing a line around the loop and noticing what happens. Students can also cut their strip along a centerline, for example, to investigate what happens to their shape.
