I'm following up the message we sent out last week about the various National Math Talent Fund events at MathFest. If possible, we'd like to have 3-4 Ambassadors join us for a networking breakfast with several Last Mile Education Fund alumni on Friday morning at 7:30. Free breakfast, hot coffee, and engaging conversation -- what's not to like?! If you're available to join us, please let either Catherine Darden (cdarden@maa.org) or me (dduncangrand@maa.org) know by August 3.
Also, we are looking for a couple of ambassadors (and faculty members) who have had the experience of paying out-of-pocket to help a student cover a financial emergency. If you or one of your colleagues has had this experience and would be willing to share it with any media inquiries we get about the Math Fund, please let either Catherine or me know ASAP. You need not be at MathFest for this opportunity. (Student identities would, of course, be protected. The institution, too, if necessary.)
