  • Join the MAA AMC for All Committee: Increase Belonging in the Classroom!

    The MAA’s AMC for All committee is creating access to equitable mathematics enrichment and problem-solving resources for teachers and students in under-resourced schools and under-represented communities. The committee aims to build belonging, confidence, and interest in math through a robust suite of resources. (Learn more about the committee’s goal in this podcast interview with the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics).

    We are still looking for more committee members to design these resources to distribute to K-12 communities. The following position is open:

    Committee Member (1-year term): Committee members are educators, researchers, community leaders, and industry professionals who collaboratively design deliverables to include DEI teacher training support, student learning strategies, math application, awards and recognition, engagement opportunities, and career connections. Honorariums start at $3,000 with a term length of one year. Those interested in the position should contact amchq@maa.org.

    • Macalester College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Applied Mathematics beginning Fall 2024. Candidates must have or be completing a Ph.D. in (Applied) Mathematics or a closely related field. They must have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, mentorship, and research in an undergraduate liberal arts environment. Andersen Award for Undergraduate Research in Mathematical or Computational Biology even had a three-way tie! Well done to everyone, it was an honor to watch you presenting your hard work!

  • Students, Don't Forget to Submit your Abstracts for this Year's Undergraduate Student Poster Session

    The MAA Undergraduate Student Poster Session returns for 2023 at MAA MathFest in Tampa, Florida! This session features research performed by undergraduate students. First-year graduate students are eligible to present if their research was completed while they were still undergraduates. Research by high school students can be accepted if the research was conducted under the supervision of a faculty member at a post-secondary institution.

    Appropriate content includes, but is not limited to, a new result, a new proof of a known result, a new mathematical model, an innovative solution to a Putnam problem, or a method of solution to an applied problem. Projects that are currently "in progress", but leading towards one of these outcomes are also welcome. Purely expository material is not appropriate for this session.

    The deadline for submission of abstracts is June 8, 2023. Early submissions are
    encouraged!
