Dear all,
here is a link to assignment 1 (it is in the library):
https://connect.maa.org/viewdocument/assignment-1?CommunityKey=33139216-e1e6-4dfb-8561-0434d550304b&tab=librarydocumentsWe forgot to clarify: please pick one of questions 1-2-3, and then answer question 4! Once again, we realize not all of you will want to share with everyone here, but we encourage you to share as much as possible on the platform. This way we can all learn from each other. In particular since you are only picking one of questions 1-2-3, you might want to read other people's take-aways from the other questions.
Finally, we apologize if communication with you flks has been difficult, we are all learning how this platform works. So a heads-up: there will be another assignment after Monday's session, and a final one after our last session, so you can reflect on what you have learned.
Enjoy your weekend,
Rosalie

Subject: Assignment 1: Gentle Reminder!
Dear MAA Conversations for The Math Community Members,First and foremost, we wanted to acknowledge the emotional and intellectual labor of your work earlier this week both during the live facilitation session on Monday and your assignment 0 submissions. The honesty, vulnerability, and openness you displayed in your written responses were appreciated. We thank you for your trust in this work as we engage in these conversations together.
We continue our work this week on exploring the Four Is of Oppression we introduced during the first facilitation. These Four Is again are: Interpersonal, Ideological, Institutional, & Internalized. On August 24th, we will further unpack these concepts. In anticipation of that conversation, we ask that you take some time to read, reflect, and upload assignment 1 onto the MAA Connect website. If you do not feel comfortable uploading for all to read, you can keep this to yourself, but please do the assignment -- this is how we learn!
To access all assignments, please navigate to: Library ---> Assignments --> Assignment 1 --> Download. To upload your assignment 1, please upload to: Discussion. Alternatively, I believe I've successfully attached assignment 1 to this post as well.
We thank you for your insight and willingness to explore these ideas with us.
Warmly,
Sara
